Working principle of gear shaping machine

Gear shaping machining according to the principle of generating method - rolling cutting method

The insertion process is like a pair of gears meshing without clearance, with one being the workpiece and the other being a special gear (gear cutter)

The gear cutter itself is like a correcting gear, and it can be repeatedly sharpened and used after wear.

 The modulus and pressure angle of the gear shaping cutter must be equal to the modulus and pressure angle of the gear being machined

When inserting helical gears with a disc cutter, the helix angles of the two must be equal. When machining the outer gear, 

the helix directions of the two are opposite. When machining the inner gear, the helix direction is the same

The involute tooth profile and tooth tip of each tooth of the slotting cutter are made into a cutting edge, with one top edge and two side edges, which have front and back angles

In order to achieve the rolling cutting process during cutting, the gear cutter and the gear blank (workpiece)

 rotate around their own axes in different directions, and their relationship is shown in the formula

Rolling motion is necessary to form the involute tooth profile of the workpiece, and the up and down reciprocating motion (main motion) of the gear cutter shaft forms the tooth profile
