Working principle of CNC gear grinding machine

CNC gear grinding machine is a process testing instrument used in mechanical engineering. Grinding larger gear diameter (mm) φ 650 grinding larger gear module (mm) 35 grinding larger gear width (mm) 630 grinding range (mm) on the workbench 350~1000 machining gear accuracy AGMA 14-13 (equivalent to DIN 3962 standard 3-4).


The working principle of CNC gear grinding machine:

① Disc shaped grinding wheel grinding machine: The narrow edges of two rotating disc shaped grinding wheels are equivalent to the two tooth surfaces of the gear rack. By moving the workpiece roller and steel strip, the workbench moves back and forth along the axis of the workpiece, grinding out the entire tooth width. After grinding the teeth, the indexing head frame separates the teeth through the indexing plate. The machine tool can also use additional devices to grind spiral teeth. If the grinding wheel is inserted into the internal gear, the internal gear can be ground. This type of machine tool is generally arranged horizontally. When the diameter is greater than 1m, vertical arrangement is adopted. The accuracy can reach level 4. Suitable for grinding high-precision gears.


② Conical grinding wheel gear grinding machine: The axial section of the grinding wheel is trimmed into the tooth shape of the rack, and it moves back and forth in a straight line along the tooth direction. The workpiece is developed and indexed by a worm gear, screw, and exchange gear, but there are also cases where it is developed by a rolling plate or steel strip, and indexed by a worm gear pair or indexing plate (see color diagram). When the grinding wheel holder rotates by an angle based on the helix angle of the workpiece, the helical gear can be ground. This machine tool is easy to adjust and has good versatility. Suitable for single piece mass production and widely used.


③ Worm wheel grinding machine: The principle is similar to that of a gear hobbing machine. The grinding wheel is a large diameter single head worm (see worm drive). Every time the grinding wheel rotates, the workpiece rotates one tooth, and the transmission ratio is accurate. Some are driven by mechanical transmission, some are driven by synchronous motors, and some are driven by gratings and servo motors. During grinding, the workpiece moves along the axis (see machine tool) to grind the entire tooth surface. Turn with diamond turning tools or roll into a worm shape with a drum. The machine tool is vertically arranged, continuously indexed, and has high grinding efficiency. Suitable for mass production and processing of modular gears, especially large tooth gears, with an accuracy of up to level 4.


④ Large flat grinding wheel gear grinding machine: The working plane of the grinding wheel is equivalent to the tooth surface of the gear rack, and the generative motion is generated by the involute template (also including steel strips and rolling discs). The grinding wheel does not reciprocate axially with the workpiece. After grinding off one side of the tooth surface, use a indexing plate to separate the teeth and grind off all tooth surfaces in sequence. Then the workpiece rotates, grinding off the tooth surface on the other side. This machine is horizontal, with a simple structure, stable performance, and an accuracy of level 3. Mainly used for grinding gear shapers, shaving cutters, and measuring gears.
