The working principle of a gear hobbing machine is based on the principle of involute machining, using a gear hobbing tool to machine internal and external straight 

and helical cylindrical gears according to the involute machining method. When hobbing, the hobbing tool performs a reciprocating cutting motion up and down, while rolling relative to the workpiece.

The main movements of a gear hobbing machine include:

1. Main motion: The up and down reciprocating linear motion of the hobbing cutter.

2. Gear splitting motion: a motion in which a pair of gears are forced to mesh with each other at a speed ratio between the gear hobbing tool and the workpiece.

3. Circular motion: The arc length rotated by the indexing circumference of the gear hobbing tool during the process of dividing teeth by reciprocating once

4. Radial feed motion: When hobbing, when the hobbing tool cuts to the full tooth depth, the radial feed stops and the tooth splitting motion continues until the machining is completed.

5. Move the tool: In order to avoid friction between the hobbing tool and the workpiece during the return stroke, the workpiece must be moved a certain distance away.

 Before the cutting stroke begins, the workpiece returns to its original position.

Mechanical motion: It consists of a motor, transmission system, guide rail, and slider. The motor provides power, and the transmission system transmits the motor's speed and torque to the guide rail and slider.

Cutting force: During the cutting process, the force exerted by the cutting tool on the workpiece needs to overcome the resistance of the workpiece material.

Workpiece positioning: Place the workpiece on the gear hobbing machine through a fixture or positioning device, and ensure that its position is accurate and error free
